How to Remove the Pink When Red Clothes Dye White Fabrics

How to Remove the Pink When Red Clothes Dye White Fabrics

You can restore white items that picked up a pink color from red clothing, if they are bleachable, by adding Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach in the wash. Alternatively, you can soak the items in a solution of water and Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach. Try the following steps to get your items white again:

In the Washing Machine:

  1. Add
Add 250 ml of Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach into your washing machine.
  2. Wash
Wash as usual with your favorite detergent.

Soaking:

  1. Add
Add 4 tablespoons (60ml) of Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach for every 2L of water.
  2. Soak
Soak for 5 minutes, or up to 1 hour for tough stains.
  3. Rinse and Wash
Rinse and then add to the washing machine. Wash as usual with your favorite detergent.

For best results, wash at 40°C. Remember to always check the fabric care label. If in doubt about whether you can use bleach on your item, you can do a quick bleachability test. Make a solution of 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of Clorox® Bleach or Clorox® Scented Bleach and 1/3 cup of water. Apply a drop of this solution on a hidden area of the fabric. Rinse after 5 minutes and dry. If there is no color loss, you can safely use liquid bleach on the item.
